Caity Simmers - Blouse Euro Premiere

Despite the buzz, the fanfare, and the crowd spilling onto the sidewalk, the real star of the night slipped almost unnoticed among the wide-eyed groms, coastal dwellers, and inner-city enthusiasts gathered for Caity Simmers’ latest edit, directed by Gui Martins and released via her own platform, Toasted Media.

Simmers, the youngest female world champion in surfing’s modern era, carries none of the posture you might expect from someone universally hailed as the best female surfer on the planet.

She is, in fact, the opposite of a larger-than-life sports star: quiet, unassuming, barely visible if you weren’t looking closely.

On the eve of a CT event in Peniche, she stepped into Fairly Normal’s Lisbon flagship store, weaving slyly through people craning necks, balancing beers, and holding their phones above their heads, eager to see the phenom and watch her new edit, Blouse.

A few select pieces from past collections were on offer at reduced prices, with the condition that they be customized in the same typeface as the movie title, a subtle nod to the evening’s occasion and certified future collector’s items.

As the lights went off, jaws dropped, and oohs, aahs, and yews were the only words spoken. Beyond those sounds, the film created much space for conversation, discussion, and connection. When the store gate finally rolled down, the crowd lingered outside for over an hour, talking, debating, and trying to unpack what they had just watched.

Caity left exactly as she had arrived: quietly and unassumingly, leaving behind anything but a modest impression. Sure to linger in the minds of everyone present and, frankly, impossible to shake.
